Sustainability

and Responsible Tourism at Camping Capo Ferrato

For more than sixty years, Camping Capo Ferrato has been welcoming guests on the beach of Costa Rei, on the south-eastern coast of Sardinia. Living here means being reminded every day of how precious nature is – and how important it is to protect it.

That is why we have chosen a model of sustainable and responsible tourism based on:

  • protecting the environment and natural resources

  • respecting the local area and its community

  • caring for people, families, accessibility and the quality of human relationships
  • promoting Sardinian culture and local products

Our commitment has been recognised by Legambiente, which awarded us the Ecotourism Award as Best Accommodation Facility in Italy, and has grown even stronger through our international sustainability journey with Green Destinations.

Our idea of sustainable and responsible tourism also begins with the people who work here: a committed team that has remained loyal to the campsite over the years, welcoming guests season after season and helping to create the warm, friendly atmosphere that makes Camping Capo Ferrato unique.

Our goal is to offer sustainable and responsible holidays in Costa Rei that care for the environment, for people and for the local community.

Our commitments at a glance

At Camping Capo Ferrato we are committed to:
  • using water and energy responsibly through drinking water available throughout the campsite, LED lighting and a photovoltaic system; two 22 kW charging stations for electric vehicles are also available

  • reducing waste, especially single-use plastic, thanks to drinking water throughout the campsite and staff-assisted waste separation
  • protecting the sea, the beach, the dunes and local biodiversity through environmental education activities and our commitment to sea turtle conservation
  • promoting Sardinian culture, traditions and gastronomy through the Settimane Sarde (Sardinian Experience Weeks) and the proposals of our Ristorante “Guido” and Market
  • supporting the local community through a long tourist season and partnerships with local producers and businesses
  • promoting responsible hospitality that combines holidays with awareness and personal growth
  • fostering inclusion and accessibility by welcoming different families, lifestyles and needs, while improving step by step

Water and Energy

Drinking water is available throughout the campsite, together with LED lighting and a photovoltaic system. In this way we reduce waste and energy consumption while encouraging our guests to use natural resources more responsibly. Two 22 kW charging stations for electric vehicles are also available.

Waste and Plastic

We manage waste separation through a central Eco Island, assisted by our staff, with clear multilingual signs and drinking water available throughout the campsite to minimise plastic bottles and holiday waste

Nature, Sea and Biodiversity

The beach of Costa Rei, the dunes and the sea turtles are our greatest treasure. Through responsible beach management, botanical walks and nature workshops, we encourage our guests to experience nature with curiosity and respect

Culture, Gastronomy and Traditions

Through the Settimane Sarde (Sardinian Experience Weeks), Ristorante “Guido”, our Market and the promotion of local wines and products, we introduce our guests to the authentic Sardinia. We also pay attention to different dietary needs, promoting a form of tourism that values both the local area and its people.

Local Community and a Longer Tourist Season

We are one of the campsites with the longest opening seasons in Sardinia and work closely with local producers, artisans and community events. In this way, tourism creates value for the local area well beyond the peak season.

Responsible Hospitality

We organise guided walks, talks and activities for adults and children, communicate clearly in several languages and rely on a loyal and committed team. We want every holiday to be enjoyable, but also an opportunity to discover, learn and grow.

Welcome, Respect and Accessibility

Camping Capo Ferrato is a small community where people, families and different life stories meet and live together with mutual respect. We believe in simple, inclusive and genuine hospitality, and we work continuously to make every stay more accessible and welcoming for everyone.

Green destinations

Following the Legambiente Ecotourism Award, we became the first campsite in Italy to embark on a structured Green Destinations programme, following internationally recognised standards for environmental, social, economic and cultural sustainability.
