The Capo Ferrato Camping Village excursions aim to accompany our guests and help them discover the real Sardinia: the sea of the Capo Carbonara Protected Marine Area; the wild, unspoilt nature of Capo Ferrato; the Sarrabus fishing grounds, the ancient nuraghi, the most popular, meaningful festivals, and the strong identity of an area with an extremely rich history. Thoughtful, well-organised activities, small groups and professional guides make every outing a special experience.

Experiences at sea

Dinghy trips in the Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area

Our most popular activity, in collaboration with local partners. Convenient departures directly from the campsite beach (when conditions allow).

The itinerary may include:

  • the crystal-clear waters of Cala Pira
  • the natural pools of the Coast
  • the protected bays of Villasimius and the islands of Serpentara and Cavoli
  • Punta Molentis, Capo Boi, Porto Giunco
  • time for a dip at the most beautiful spots in the MPA
  • snorkelling on protected sea beds with a wealth of sea creatures

Nature walks and hiking trips

One of the most picturesque walks in the area:

  • scenic paths
  • unspoilt Mediterranean scrubland
  • views of the Gulf of Costa Rei
  • history of the 16th-century coastal tower
  • path to the foot of the lighthouse

An iconic local hiking route, suitable for regular walkers.

Slow walks suitable for all, with stops for explanations of:

  • aromatic plants and coastal adaptations
  • granite geology
  • dune ecosystems
  • reading the landscape

A simple route that combines walking, nature and coastal observation. Analysis of rocks shaped by the sea, Neptune grass, small coastal fish and the role of dunes.

Excursion with expert environmental guides to discover the Colostrai Pond, one of the most important wetlands in the Sarrabus region. Species that can be observed: herons, black-winged stilts, egrets, migratory birds.

In collaboration with professional riding schools, we offer:

  • horse rides on the beach (for adults and experienced young riders aged 14 and over)
  • horse trekking in the S’Acqua Callenti Forest (Castiadas)
  • pony activities for young children at our partner teaching farm

All experiences led by qualified equestrian guides.

Cultural Experiences

Outings that offer a blend of nature and culture:

  • explanation of traditional fishing techniques
  • observation of canals and lagoon systems
  • encounter with fishermen
  • reading the landscape behind the dunes

Excursions to the main sites in the Sarrabus area:

  • Nuraghe S’Omu e S’Orcu
  • Nuraghi of Castiadas
  • Domus de Janas of Capo Ferrato and Castiadas

Routes with a focus on history, archaeology and ancient landscapes.

Visit to the museum housed in the historical buildings of the penal colony. A journey through the recent history of the area: land clearing, prison life and rural transformation.

We also recommend a visit to the small monumental cemetery, where there is a cross dedicated to “Peppino”, probably linked to the name of the Scoglio di Peppino.

Traditional Events – Shuttles and Briefings

  • Citrus Fruit Festival (Muravera)

    We organise shuttles to the famous Citrus Fruit Festival. Before departure, we offer an introductory briefing on:

    • traditions and symbols of the festival
    • folk groups and costumes
    • practical advice on how to get around during the event

  • Feast of Sant’Efisio (Cagliari – 1 May)

    A shuttle can be booked to attend the oldest and most heartfelt procession in Sardinia. The introductory briefing explains:

    • the history of the pilgrimage
    • the meaning of the traditional costumes
    • the best spots to watch the procession
    • rules for a respectful visit

  • There is always an extra charge for boat trips and excursions away from the campsite

  • There is an extra charge for activities near the campsite only when workshops or guides are involved

  • Routes are chosen based on safety and weather conditions

  • The Reception staff can provide up-to-date information on the activity programme
