Sardinian Weeks

An authentic Sardinian experience, since 2001

Since 2001, every year in spring and autumn, Capo Ferrato Camping Village’s Sardinian Weeks have been offering a unique opportunity to discover the real Sardinia, as an alternative to the classic beach holiday.
The Sardinian Weeks are not entertainment, or one-off events: they are a properly structured format for exploring the nature and culture of the island that has taken shape over the years, organised with expertise and enthusiasm and driven by a profound connection with the local area.
During these weeks, guests are offered the chance not just to admire the beauty of the island, but to explore it, listen to it and engage with it.

The Sardinian Weeks today

The Sardinian Weeks have been active for over 20 years, with new activities introduced all the time. Today, they offer one of the most comprehensive nature and cultural programmes on the island.

The format comprises:

  • cycles lasting 2-3 weeks
  • in April, May, June, September and October
  • with a variety of complementary daily activities
  • two languages spoken at all times (Italian and German, often also English)
  • close engagement with local craftsmen, producers, guides, academics and communities

Each edition is different, but they are always consistent with the campsite’s guiding values: sustainability, quality, relationships, and local knowledge.

The Sardinian Weeks turn the campsite into a hub of encounters and exploration.

The activities are not designed as “time fillers”; the aim is to create meaningful experiences, accessible to everyone.

Guests will have the chance to take part in:

  • traditional cooking courses
  • guided tastings of wines and local products
  • Sardinian dinners, with stories and explanations
  • craft workshops
  • incontri con esperti e divulgatori
  • meetings with experts and popularisers

Each proposal is accompanied by explanations to help participants understand the experiences.

Nature is one of the pillars of the Sardinian Weeks.

Some of the most representative experiences include:

  • botanical walks on the beach and in the shrubland
  • hikes to Cape Ferrato, Punta Santa Giusta and along the coastal promontories
  • landscape reading at Scoglio di Peppino, between the sea and the land
  • guided snorkelling trips with an explanation of the coastal ecosystem
  • dinghy outings in the Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area
  • visits to the ponds of Colostrai, Santa Giusta, Feraxi and San Giovanni

2024 saw the introduction of walks dedicated to the Caretta caretta sea turtles, after the exciting experience of watching them nesting and the eggs hatching right here on our beach.
The walks take place every fortnight, offering the chance to find out more about this fascinating species and how it is protected.

The Sardinian Weeks are also a journey through the memory and identity of the region.

The programme may include:

  • folk evenings with Sardinian dances for guests, not performed on a stage
  • encounters with local craftsmen and producers
  • visits to traditional fisheries
  • tales of fishing, farming and rural life
  • cultural briefings on traditional festivals such as the Citrus Fruit Festival in Muravera and the Feast of Sant’Efisio in Cagliari
  • book presentations and meetings with authors

These activities would not be possible without the camp’s strong ties with the local community.

In recent years, the programme has been enriched with top-quality craft and creative activities, which have also proved extremely popular with international visitors.

The workshops organised include:

  • Sardinian garlands (collection, creation, arrangement)
  • pottery and ceramics
  • lanterns
  • fans and objects inspired by local tradition
  • intergenerational workshops for adults and children

These are more than just manual activities; they are engaging, authentic cultural experiences.

Since 2025, the Sardinian Weeks have also featured a distinctive focus on science:

  • astronomical evenings on the beach with astrophysics
  • stargazing
  • building an astrolabe, for adults and children
  • clear scientific explanations, in two languages

A rare experience in the world of camping, with a programme similar to those of Europe’s finest nature lodges.

There is also plenty to enjoy for younger guests.

During these weeks, the Kids Club becomes a workshop inspired by Sardinia, with:

  • loom weaving
  • weaving with Mediterranean plants
  • pottery
  • treasure hunts on a theme
  • traditional games
  • nature walks designed for children

Many activities also involve parents, for authentic experiences to enjoy together.

The programme follows a precise framework:

  • 1-2 activities per day
  • a mix of light-hearted, cultural and creative moments
  • leisurely pace with holidaymakers in mind
  • opportunity to opt in and out of activities

Nothing is compulsory; everything is designed to be a pleasure.

The Sardinian Weeks take place:

  • in spring and autumn
  • generally for three weeks in each seasonal period

The detailed programme is published a few weeks in advance in the Events & News section of the website.

Some activities have limited spots available, or require a participation fee (outdoor excursions, specialised workshops).

Reception staff will be pleased to provide information and updates and take care of registration.

What makes the Sardinian Weeks special
  • The Sardinian Weeks are not an add-on to the campsite

  • They are the most authentic way of illustrating who we are, where we are and our hospitality philosophy

  • The programme has been carefully constructed over the years, and is evolving all the time, while remaining faithful to a clear, specific idea of tourism: responsible, sustainable, with a human dimension, and with a strong bond with the local area and community
