IMPORTANT NOTE ON LOCATION
The name of the campsite is Capo Ferrato Camping Village, but we are not on the Capo Ferrato promontory. We are in Costa Rei, south area, a few minutes from Scoglio di Peppino and just 100 metres from the residential area of Costa Rei.
The Capo Ferrato promontory is about 6-7 km further north. The name of the campsite recalls the historical name of the coast.
You can reach the campsite entrance easily using your GPS navigation system. Below are the routes most frequently used (and recommended) by our guests.
From Cagliari – Fastest route (approx. 1 hour)
SS125 “Nuova” road towards Muravera → “Costa Rei – Olia Speciosa” exit → Costa Rei Sud. Modern, fast-flowing road suitable for all vehicles.
From Olbia – Fast route (via Nuoro – Lanusei)
The most widely recommended for time taken and traffic flow.
SS131 to Nuoro → diversion for Lanusei → Muravera → Costa Rei.
Important note – Lanusei section.
We recommend avoiding the centre of Lanusei, because the streets are narrow with low balconies. There is an outer ring road, which is more convenient and safer, but not always clearly indicated.
When you get to the area:
- follow the signs for Tortolì / Bari Sardo or Muravera-Villaputzu,
- avoid the signs indicating “centro”.
This will easily allow you to keep out of the centre of Lanusei.
From Olbia – panoramic coastal route (via Orosei – Dorgali – Baunei – Arbatax)
The most scenic, but also the longest and most challenging.
It runs along the east coast, passing through mountainous stretches and places such as Orosei, Dorgali, Baunei and Arbatax.
Characteristics:
- lots of bends and up and down stretches;
- spectacular views;
- longer than the other routes;
- rather hard for long/tall vehicles;
- ideal for those who prefer the scenic route, to take in the views.
From Olbia – smoother route via Cagliari
Very linear alternative, without mountain roads.
Olbia → SS131 to Cagliari → Cagliari bypass → SS125 “Nuova” road towards Muravera → Costa Rei.
Characteristics:
- broad, comfortable roads all the way;
- ideal for motorhomes, caravans and families;
- slightly longer than the fast route, but very smooth.
